    This podcast is designed for students in APS studies or anyone who wishes to learn more about English for Sport and Physical Education purposes. Activities are listed by order of difficulty. The Service des Langues suggests reading the questions first, and then listening to the audio recording.  You can listen to the audio recording several times before reading the transcript. The transcript contains synonyms for several words. You will find the original words in the “transcript synonyms” page. Finally, check your answers using the answer sheet.

    More advanced recordings can be found on the Notable Science podcast. Complementary resources can be found at Enigma Plus (including medical English), and also the podcasts Minimum Competence in Scientific English podcast and Listening Comprehension for Scientific English.

    These recordings of texts read aloud from the manual Minimum Competence in Scientific English, published by EDP Sciences may be used in class or for self-learning.

    The Service des Langues suggests listening to the recording first with your book closed, then listening and filling in the missing words in your manual, and finally reading the text out loud (à haute voix) while listening. Complementary listening activities may also be found at Enigma Plus and Listening Comprehension for Scientific English, Physical Education English and Notable Science.

    This series of podcasts, originally published by EDP Sciences, covers the same lexical and functional syllabus as the Minimum Competence in Scientific English textbook.

    In the first part, you will hear a review of the main key words and structures used during the podcast. In the second part, you listen to the recording, pausing and replaying when necessary so that you can answer the questions.

    • Write your answers on the work sheet.
    • When you have finished, you can check your answers using the Answer sheet.
    • You are advised to have a look at study strategies which will help you work more efficiently.
